SaltyMonkey is always full of unasked for advice and speaking up when he is never asked, which is a great fault of SaltyMonkey, but why not react aye maties?

- Cog science has proven...there is only so much will power in reserve. That's why absent minded scientists don't button their sweaters with the right holes, and why preachers end up in sex scandals. So, all that hard work during the day eats uses up that energy. You can't do everything if that tank is dry.
- Focus only on those projects related to making the craft sailable - rigging, bedding, engine, necessary electronics etc. All the rest you either don't need or can be done later - on the road or with whatever time is left. With luck you might find someone to help, get free installation from the place you purchased, or have a budget to hire out the work.
- One major critical task at a time with some low hanging fruit around it. Create a spreadsheet with months and weeks and layout your project list including estimated hours heading toward a target date. This will make it more manageable and digestible with everything else going on. Oh so organized! Yuk. Well, relaxes a bit...

Ok, off to learn welding YAYAYA!!!!

When life throws problems, I try and use the holistic medicine approach, - look to nature for a cure. Theres nothing new under the sun, its all been done before and all the answers we ever need are out there in the world, in nature, in books, in history.

Love it or loath it, even the scriptures have wisdom to offer. Im always quoting passages to myself like 'there but for the grace of God go I' etc, even though I dont subscribe to the theory, just the practice.

So, I was pondering on being single and its not because I havent been trying, but maybe trying in all the wrong places. Then I remembered a story in the New Testament. The fishermen had been out on Gallilee all night and not caught a thing. ( cant blame the french and spanish trawlermen for this one, not falling fish stocks this time, not even BPs fault)
Then Jesus came unto them and said, cast the net on the other side of the boat. And lo, it came to pass, they were quids in. Fish for all.

So it got me thinking, why dont I go over to the dark side?
Dont knock it till youve tried it.

Erika - here is why us men have no problem interpreting your "upside down in the bilge" as something other than what you intended. . . , ,

Go both ways...

Erika
The resident consultant matchmaker here says you need to fix your boat and socialize to find a man to do the work.

Sorry 'bout that, she was reading the screen over my shoulder and suggested the above.

I have no idea how people find each other. However, I'm anchored in paradise thinking that sometimes the best we can do is be happy with our own company. If someone else fits into that happiness in a way that supports it then that's as good as it gets. If we don't find someone that's as good as it gets too. No offence to my age challenged bretheren (and sisteren) but as you get older the sexual imperative does fade and lets you see things differently. Take sex where you are comfortable but remember that it's over when the fat lady sings (OK maybe that's just me) and life begins 3 minutes later (maybe just me again) . Could it be that the best we can do is find friends and friendship to see us through?

Speak for yourself Hummingway! For some of us the imperative is still pretty imperious!

But I get your point that companionship before and after is more important than ever.

Not quite sure what coloquialism you use in your part of the world but round here its pretty obvious.

Maybe we are at crossed purposes here.
