Re: Getting stoned with savages

And just what we don't need is a few cruisers endorsing dope. Next we'll all start having boardings by the local authorities.

Re: Getting stoned with savages

I wondered when I posted the story if it would get interesting...guess I was right
I don't plan to take the fellow up on the offer for the reason I stated in the OP. For the record I'm in group A I just thought it was interesting the offer was made to a complete stranger and obvious tourist. For all this cat knows I could be an ATF agent on holiday with an overdeveloped sense of duty

There is a reason why it's called DOPE!

Murdering people sounds like thugs. If it looks like a duck, its a duck. I can understand sorta, if someone got my 12 year old sister hookd on heroin, then i killed him with a ax, I would expect to go to jail. But pot isnt heroin. So were back to thugs murdering people. Not cool.

Start having boardings? Seems this is the norm in S. Florida

The word dope is so 1960's and isnt a word for pot, Dope is heroin, and it is somthing very different.

Insane how some people view use of alcohol as less "evil" than THC consumption. Living in the war on drugs country for so long might have helped develop those feelings. It's just as wrong as killing someone over your kids poor choices. If you raised your kids a certain way and they wanted to flee from those ways easily you obviously didn't do your job or you are wrong.

The tone of this thread started controversial by calling foreign locals “savages”

Rabid missed the point that this was not about….. what you do in the USA, or home turf, …..but what you should do overseas?

Dell, rightly explained and I confirmed that summary execution is a way many local authorities will handle it and it is wise to stay far far away from any association.

The whole thing is pretty sad and from experience I can tell you that it is very dangerous to be around dopers when cruising overseas

I also happen to think that this is a potentially dangerous topic on CF that encourages the ‘Attitudes’ mindset of sailing anarchy.

That is why I am outspoken about this topic...

Re: Getting stoned with savages

I dont know how old you are but do you have any real knowledge of pot laws these days. Its now a civil ticket in many places. In vermont you can have up to 1 ounce if its not cut up to sell, and maybe get a ticket. Pot is on its way to being legal and not harmful. alcohol and cigarettes are way more dangerous. Lung cance from chemicals in cigs. come on your 30 years behind the times. Cigg smoke is crazy dangerous. and pots impairmet is tiny compare to drunk drivers. No one smokes a joint and beats their wife.

Not me. When I was in college we would get stoned, have big gang fights and knock over gas stations.

Re: Getting stoned with savages

Lived in the Philippines in the mid '80s and found pot to be readily available for around two dollars US per quarter ounce, Philippina price. I'm sure GIs paid more, but I have no experience there.

There was talk of strict laws but never saw any direct evidence of enforcement.

Same with the alleged ban on firearms. Every time I went to a Philippino house the first thing they wanted to do is show me their 1911 Colt. Next they would want to start a discussion of whether the AK or the M16 was the better weapon. Sometimes these young men were NPA members, so that might explain the questions.

Regardless of laws or bans, somethings will never go away, rather only into the shadows.
