Beatiful or Not

Apart from being seaworthy, roomy, practical etc I want by boat(s) to look beautiful. It's actually very important to me. it's not more important than the aforementioned attributes, but I wouldn't buy an ugly boat. I know this is highly subjective and I guess we all find our own boats beautiful, but here's a little test. Also feel free to post pictures of your boats or one like it and we can all laugh at eachothers bad tastes

As long as it isn't the ugliest boat in port it's probably just fine.

I think if you have the ugliest in port you should get a prize. I sense some story with the main sailor being named Bubba here. Maybe drink till it looks good to someone else (and maybe then sell it)!

If it's ugly enough, you won't have anyone laying alongside you...
The more you drink the better the boat looks, the better the boat looks the more girls it attracts. And all the girls will look good!

Some sailor once said something close to "if you row away from your beautiful boat at anchor you're likely to return sooner! Luckily beauty is in the eye of the beholder :-)

Yea the ugliest boat in the Sea of Cortez when I was there was a home built plywood hard bilge thing with leeboards! It was very lightweight and had like a 5 hp outboard and high freeboard. Big guy with a beard and his wife. Ya know..... they were having a heck of a good time anchored in 18" of water or on the beach with the anchor planted next to the beach blanket! No hot water, no GPS, No refrig, no solar, no wind machine, just simple. Everyone in harbor was always working on something, but they were always headed out again every time I looked out the channel! looked a little like the pic above only with leeboards.....

No way will I go for Dingo Fugly!

I am proud of our boat and also I have personal pride. I don't want people watching me sail in and thinking that a rat plauge is about to occur, or the water police chatting me up about being a Liveaboard instead of a cruiser. And I don't want people thinking 'hey, at least he got a boat that floats... but if he askes for a hand lets run'.

A good looking boat, well looked after, isn't just in the eye of the beholder.

Not everyone may like my brand of boat... but it looks good to others and looks great to us.

Some one once told me " An ugly boat is like a Fat Chick, they try harder!"

Ok before I get hate mail from all the ladies out there, I was only relaying a quote. I didn't say this myself. I myself find some boat's and women that others find ugly very attractive.......lol. But I am not big on Chiness Junks.

Cheers

In the Eye of the Beholder

Some boats appeal to me because they have character. Some appeal to me because they are truly beautiful (to my taste). Sometimes I'll choose to admire a boat more for its character than for its beauty.
