bottle - Sounds like you have figured out how to enjoy you new home. I thnk that it is great that you are not compromising your comfort. It is also an eye opener for those on the trail behind you.

There are always long discussions about power planning and consumption around here. You say you are running the genset 3-4 hours a day. I'd sure be interested to hear about you power set up and power plan.

Ex-Calif: Power set up??? Plan??? Kidding right? We have two 130W solar panels and a Air-X wind gen. Panels do a good job, especially in the Bahamas, of keeping up with "normal" daily usage. WM not considered normal. The wind gen is so-so. I noticed last year in the Bahamas quite a few boats had two. Makes sense. Another panel would be nice as well.

We don't run the genset 4 hours/day. We would have to if we ran the WM the required 4 hours to refill the water tanks. I'm still kinda figuring this out as we go. A work in progress so they say. If not for the WM, we could get by without the genset for a couple days or so, as long as we had sun and some wind.

Just Dreamin: You got a deal. When do you think you'll get to GT?

Hatteras: We've been as far north as Maine and south as Georgetown, Bahamas. We had planned to the 1500 this year, but decided to return to the Bahamas again because we enjoyed it so and had seen so little of it.

we are looking at crossing over just after CHristmas then start makin our way south. So probably around Febuary

It was kind of a lead question and you provided the perfect answer. Sort of a "You swung what ya brung reply."

Having the ability ot make power when you need to and as you learn sounds like the smart play.

Learning how to conserve over time is the natural evolution.
