I am looking for a liveaboard site around Fort Myers FL area, does anyone have a recommendation? Burnt Store looks nice but is quite costly, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Check the Ft Myers Yacht Club. I think that the mouring bouys can have liveaboards. There is some others between Ft Myers and the islands as well.

I do know know about the docks. Most of them are higher than renting an apartment and keeping the boat at a dock.

Good luck.

Just a note, the posts on that link are from 2005, many changes have occurred here in Florida in the last 2 years.

The St. Pete Municipal Marina takes liveaboards....waiting time for a slip can be long, however, if you can get space on the transient dock...it used to be that you could stay there for quite a while....but they won't accept "reservations" for transient room. Its a first come first serve situation... or at least thats how it was a little while back.

There is also a marine reverently known as "drunk pass"....actually Blind Pass, they took liveaboards.

More later.
