Re: Catalina 36

And my friend sailed his Catalina 34 from Vancouver to Mexico. Safely. Same coast. Takes all kinds.

Re: Catalina 36

I probably saw more Catalinas doing deliveries up and down the west coast over 15 years than any other type of vessel. They were everywhere! Most were seaworthy and had a fun crew to be around.
A good friend took his to southern Mexico and I believe just kept on going.
My comment on the delamination problem had to do with ensuring you check out what ever you plan on using for your offshore adventure, the Catalina I towed in was about a 1995-2000 vintage. Beware, the sea is an unforgiving mistress and will find the weak spot on any vessel and work on it until it fails. Phil

Re: Catalina 36

I guess I am kinda partial to Catalinas. The longer I have mine the more I love it. Sure there are lots of safer, sturdier boats out there, but its too late for me. I have developed such a relationship with my 36, I would have a hard time ever selling her. I would take it most anywhere except the higher latitudes.

Re: Catalina 36

Currently reading a blog by a guy who's sailing the South Pacific in a Catalina 30. Left from San Diego.

It's so much fun too meet the motley boats and their crews out there. And to read their blogs. What is the Catalina 30's blog address?

Re: Catalina 36

Is the svseachange the same one from Lake Superior? Shane? Messaged you a few times while still ground bound in northern Mn. Let me know. 19 months on our S-2 from Barkers Island, to Bahamas and back to Fl. Going ASAP back to T and C's and further south. Hope to hear from you if same. Bob

Re: Catalina 36

One in the same Bob. I bet you are taking interest in this thread. Your trip demonstrates somebody doesn't need the perfect "bluewater" boat to escape the land and have a darn fine cruise.
