i2f in the Pacific

Well,

This was not a planned stop, but a small noise in the rudder, and over a week of beating into weather had us stop here before Panama. We passed through the Windless Passage under motor, and once we rounded Jamaica the wind was southwest for 4 days. We either beat, or motored from Green Cove Springs Florida to Cartegena. We had maybe a wee bit over 24 hours of sailing behind the beam, or on it.

We will most likely leave Wed. for Panama. We have not been able to find the rudder noise. We had a man who specializes in rudders dive on the boat, and he found nothing either. I am still poking around to see what I can find.

It is hot here when there is no wind in the anchorage, and everything is as expensive as Calif. We are looking forward to moving on, and getting to Panama. Hopefully we will find our friend from S.A. still there after a delivery from Trinidad......ahhhh the sailing life......i2f

Thanks for the update, John and Melanie, & Ralph.
Congratulations on a successful voyage, so far - and we all hope the mystery noise is nothing significant, and your trip remains uneventful. Via con dios.

I2F,

Congratulations on your (mostly) successful jaunt so far.

So you decided to skip the free beer in South Florida?

Hey I2F and crew!

I've been following you on Spot. Saw you made it to Cartagena, but I didn't know it wasn't a scheduled stop. Good luck on the rest of the journey and keep us updated.

Cheers!

A southwest wind crossing the Caribbean? Who woulda thunk it. Never seen one of those. Guess you were just really lucky.

Safe sailing to Panama and good luck in the canal.

I planned on a earning my miles to Jamaica, and then getting the wind behind me, and making 200 mile days. Man was my heart broken. I will have to wait to catch the trades in the Pacific, and see what kind of miles we can get out of Imagine without being in a racing mode.......i2f

Dont forget Soft Air should be down there somewhere. Cartegena is his home base. He'd be good to look up as a guide! Have a blast, Chris

Hiya...

We're thinking of getting some work done in Cartagena based on various recommendations from those who have, very inexpensively, but not immediately recently.

Is your perception of CA prices on goods or services or both?

Thanks.

We are anchored outside of Club Nautico, and the grocery close by is as high as Calif. We had a diver come inspect our rudder. He found nothing, and charge nothing for his 30 minutes. Bring material with you. We are having a hard time finding a batten, so I will have to fabricate something. Maybe you can e-mail John at Club Nautico for some real answers?

I e-mailed Soft Air through his website as soon as we got here. He is out of town with the boat on the hard. Unforyunately going to Medillen is not on our schedule. I bet it is awesome pretty there, and much cooler......i2f

John,

So you went the hard way?

Hey! Change your location on your profile! I'm trying to find where Cartegena, FL is!

Fair Winds,

Hey John!!

Good to hear from you. Greeting from your friends with the 4 wheel snakes. Still working on my 289FIA. Offer of the mooring is still good if you ever stop by Bermadoo.

Unfortunately it is business forcing me back to Ca. It may take sometime to get what is mine, so there may be a slabside in my near future? Something to do while the courts work it out......i2f
