Actually, I meant to say "The Nancy" for Great Lakes sailors. "Bluenose" is an amazing song of course. Few are the songs that capture the reality of sailing like this one. And then there's "Make & Break Harbour", "Fogarty's Cove", "The Flowers Of Bermuda", and of course "Northwest Passage". Many more.

He died way too young...

For a night watch, anything by Sigur Ros can't be beat.

But really, anything but Margaritaville !! I hit a wall with that one last summer in Cape May, NJ

Great song, to go with a great video

J125 Jackknife - YouTube

I should add, One Republic singing Counting Stars. Not the original song video, it's a vid taken by a delivery skipper

Re: Favourite Cruising Songs?

These are my favorite threads!

Sail Away by the Oak Ridge Boys

Also, Chris Bellamy and Brent Burns are great trop-rock musicians that I stumbled upon several years ago. Brent's stuff tends to be a little more cheesy at times, but very entertaining, and he's got some great songs, and probably a dozen albums. Chris Bellamy was (maybe still is?) a charter fisherman, so his songs reflect that, not as much about sailing specifically, but more the island and tropical lifestyle... Caribbean Magic may be my favorite by him.

And if you like bar music, the entire collection of the late Rusty McHugh and Mike Fincher from the Florabama in Pensacola is hard to beat in my opinion.
