When I was a commercial fisherman, I would get a permit from the US Forestry Service, find a deep, narrow valley where the trees grow straight, and cut me a mast.

My life, day late dollar short. I did read most of the replies, I understood that you want a new rig. If you are going to make the crossing to get it wouldn’t it be better to have a repaired mast than none at all? The comments I read about performance without would make me hesitant. Something is better than nothing, even if you are dead sticking under motor.
