Spongy Cockpit Sole

The cockpit sole of my new boat produces a pronounced downward flex when walked on. It's solid fibreglass, i.e. not cored. I was wondering if, rather than cutting out and replacing the floor (big, expensive job), I could buttress up the underside with glassed stringers. Don Casey describes this method in his books, but I'm unsure if it's suitable for fibreglass that has lost it's rigidity (there is a technical name for this that escapes me right now) and requires the strength to be walked on. If this method is not suitable, perhaps some know of alternative methods to this and the entire removal/replace process?

COnsider making yourself a cockpit grating leaving limber slots in the transverse pieces for drainage. For example Teak Grating Kit. Works for us.

FWIW...

Casey's 'glass stringer method will solve your problem with ease. "U" shaped stringers, heavily tabbed to the underside of the cockpit sole will fix the problem.
