Re: SoCal boat yard recomendations-soda blast and barrier coat

It's funny, but I just had a guy call me with a 39' Taiwanese sailboat.

He called and asked to have the bottom blasted.... We then talked a few minutes and I discovered he had the boat in the water for the last 10 years down in Florida and it never left the water.... He also said the boats bottom is covered with blisters of all sizes and he was thinking about having the boat blasted and peeled

I then told him he'd be better off just going directly to peeling followed by grinding of the blisters and filling them with fiberglass and resin... fair everything off and then roll a few coats of vinyl ester resin and two to three coats of Sea Hawk Huff Stuff barrier epoxy.

Like I said... if the bottom is real ugly then peel it... it's just that I don't see many ugly bottoms and when I'm done with them they are usually beautiful.

Your process is awesome up untill a lot of blisters are evident. Also for aluminum and steel hulls the farrow system is amazing. My buddy uses it every other year to recondition his fork trucks at the marina . Only way to fight off metal corrosion effectively and clean.
