Scrap My 27' Hunter ?

Been out of the water for 20 years on the custom trailer. Has been replaced with a bigger cat. All ports need replacing. Do I unbolt the keel and sell 3000+ pound of lead, sell the mast and sell the trailer? Thought to take the backhoe and dig a hole and set the hull near the pond as a "guest house" Seems a shame to scrap what was a very enjoyable boat but seems the parts are much more valuable that the sum. Suggestions?

NO, the hull is in good condition, just not used and we got a large cat. The old tow vehicle hasn't run in years and needs a really good cleaning. But the price of used boats is just so low now.

Re: Scrap My 27' Hunter ?

It would make a wonderfully shaped backyard pond or mini pool. Laying on her side with some wicker furniture, a nice place to have lunch on a spring day, once the deck cap was pulled. Hanging from a live oak limb, a clever wind chime (I've actually done this with a Hunter 25, though to remove it from a trailer that needed repair). Yep, there's lots of stuff you could do, if you don't want to play with it as a boat any more. I think you should buff her up nice, then bury her up to the LWL in the front yard and use it to display the inflatable Santa at Christmas, maybe a turkey around Thanksgiving and lets not forget Halloween, the 4th of July and Easter. We all should have something to really piss off the local HOA. In a pinch, she'd probably make a pretty good fall out shelter too.

Re: Scrap My 27' Hunter ?

I am speaking from a biased opinion, but I would not scrap it. I am sure there are charities etc that would take it, spruce it up a bit and sell it.

If I was remotely close to Raleigh I would be on my way now to have a look.

Re: Scrap My 27' Hunter ?

I have a 1981 27H. this is a cherubini designed and built, empty weight 7000#'s, and is a very nice sailor. My boat is origional except for sails, cuishons, lines, etc and is in showroom condition. The 2 topside hatches have been replaced with lewmar low proflie al units. the port trim rings were removed and re-beded. the origional Yanmar has about 350 hrs and runs perfect. It all depends on condition of everything... engine, tanks , fabrics, wood, electric, etc, everything on a boat is expensive. If it is run down, its probally best to donate and take tax credit

Cost what you'd get for parts then price her, take a couple of pics a quick list of any gear and post it on here...
I'm sure I read a post on here of someone looking for what you've got... an H27

I need a trailer for a Hunter 27 would you sell it to me?
Or I can buy the whole rig. I am looking at one south of you now to buy.
Send me photos and give me a price and I may buy your Hunter instead.
I can come and get it.
