Re: Refitting a Compass 47

The project is still moving forward. We had a few minor delays due to mini vacations. The floor and bridgedeck are primed and non skidded. We are still waiting for the steering pedestal to come back before we can reinstall the steering and finish the cockpit.

We are also back down in the interior again. We re-veneered a few pieces of wood and have sanded the aft stateroom and forward companionway area. I will lay down 6 coats of gloss varnish and then one matte. Once this is done all that will be left is the aft head.

Once the interior is and cockpit are finished, the boat will receive a thorough wash and then off to the yard to pull the spar.

Re: Refitting a Compass 47

We are waiting for a combination of high tide/daylight and a day off to move the boat. Really looking forward to getting the mast down.

Beautiful looking interior on your boat. I love the wood paneling on the main cabin ceiling. Not your typical teak & holly cabin sole, either. Do you know what type of wood?

Thanks Exile! I agree with you on the headliner. I believe most of the wood is mahogany (not headliner though). I say that because I had to Reveneer a few areas and I ordered teak. I then needed red mahogany stain to try and match the rest of the boat. The sole is cool too, it is solid planks laid on plywood and then there is another plywood subfloor beneath it. Once the floors are lifted there is access to the entire bilge. Man I love this boat.....I hope she sails well.
