Need: Force 10 Stove Burner Cap

WOW thank you guys, things make sense now. This oven is also exactly 20 yrs old.

Initially it was missing the internal fittings, the rack to hold this particular plate too. I managed to get a similar scrapped oven that had the rack and a plate covering the burner. Initial use of the oven without it resulted in an exploded hardglass bowl :-(

I got it all to work now, disassembled and cleaned the unit and it is in as new condition again! (Picture doesnt show the rack yet).

That plate belongs to a 20 year old Force 10. I know, I have one. It goes in the oven directly over the burner. The grooves at the sides of the plate (not seen in your photo as they are on the other side) fit in the racks on the side. Without this plate the oven will not heat up properly. These old ovens have a single burner in the bottom of the oven and the burner is the same as a large stove top burner. After a fair amount of use the plate will warp badly and the oven will fail to heat. When this happens heat the plate with a torch and sit a concrete block on it to flatten it again.

Glad to know my Force 10 warped heat plate can be restored, since replacement is proving difficult. Can you advise *how much* heat is required (or how much is too much)? I am concerned that it could be overdone. I assume a welder's heat torch (big head) is how to apply it.

Yes I use a cutting torch and heat the plate all over. Then I put a cement block on it to bend it gently. Heating is really trial and error. Don't want to melt it and want it soft enough to bend gently so that it doesn't break. I've done mine four or five times over the years.

I was missing one small cap from my older Force 10. Force 10 no longer has them as supplier lost the moulds in a fire. Just ordered a small cap yesterday from Dickinson Marine (1-800-659-9768). They bought the rights from Force 10 to produce a heater that used the same burner cap. Has not arrived yet so not 100% sure it will fit. Will let you know when it arrives.

Just got the burner cap in the mail. It's a perfect fit! I've included some pics of new cap. Part # is 89008 (Burner Cap).

Price was $25 CDN plus shipping.

I have the same FORCE 10. I replaced the heat plate in the oven with a ceramic plate I picked up in Panama from a different stove. It is a little smaller and I had to jurry rig. Works great and doesn't warp.
