Liquid Rubber

I have a kayak with a hypalon bottom and a canvas top. I would like to freshen the scuffed up bottom with this liquid rubber stuff I bought from west marine, but the coating that is on the kayak now is silver, not grey. (shiny silver, almost like silver paint.) I don't know what this coating is. Has anyone ever heard of a silver paint for hypalon boats? Has anyone used the liquid rubber stuff from west marine? By the way, I am now officially a sailboat owner, sort of. My kayak has been outfitted with a mainsail and a jib. Heh Heh. Eric

Sorry I havent a clue what the silver paint is on your Hypalon but to repair hypalon the easiest way to patch etc. is to ruffen the hypalon surface then put a layer of 5200 fast set tube on. The best advice I can give you would be to first pick an area thats small and less critical and then sand the hyplalon surface lightly and apply some of the rubber paint and leave it a couple of days and then flex and kinda abuse the teat area and see how the repair holds up. If all good then go ahead and do the whole surface.

Update required for Liquid Rubber to help some worn patched on da Zodiac, whiuch is Hypalon.

I believe PP = polypropylene and PE = polyethylene, the thermoplastic polymer twins!

So I should not use this liquid rubber on chlorosulfonated polyethylene (CSPE) as it says "Not suitable for PP and PE."

or is CSPE different?
