Re: Epoxy Fairing Over Interprotect 2000E

How can it be thinned West if 2000 is blush free?

2000 is very rough, shouldn't that be tooth enough?

2000 covers itself without any sanding within 6 months.
If 2000 is in fact blush free West then west should fair well over un-sanded 2000?

Thanks exnatalia,
Ill look into using interlux products compatable for fairing.
I called them today (tech support) but it turns out that there's a holiday or something this weekend so they're shut down till Monday.

Solvent content has little bearing on blush, type of amine hardener does, and humidity, temp & length of cure. For instance, West fast hardener has way less tendency to blush.

Can't comment on the roughness/ suitability of interprotect, for overcoating with other than tie coat/ YRA600, or antifouling, which is what is recommended. Most often we knock it back with 240 anyway.
Heavy fairing needs better tooth.

Re: Epoxy Fairing Over Interprotect 2000E

Check with interlux.....their products are designed to work together, all the way through to include bottom paint.

Their products are just as good as WEST.....and if you use their entire system....and document what you did..I have heard they will stand by their products if you have an issue later on.

As far as I remember with my bottom...I think you can fair with their filler before or after 2000. You have a long time to apply other 2000 and maybe filler, but I believe bottom paint needs to go on pretty quick after the last coat of 2000.

Their materials info sheets backed by fans give a pretty good idea of what you can do.
