Gelcoat on Epoxy Fairing (West 410)

greetings guys,
I am on the downhill leg of my major rebuild. (finally!)
My current quandary is the junction between the gelcoat on a new deck, and the epoxy fairing to the toe rail.
Do I try gelcoat it or spray with 2 pack polyurethane?
If I gelcoat it, how to I hide the junction with the molded deck gelcoat.?
Also, its gonna have to be waxed GC meaning cut & polish, probably resulting in a different final lustre.

If I polyurethane, will the junction hi-light after time? I tried a test spray and it feathered fine into the molded antiskid, but
I doubt it will feather into the plain shiney gelcoat.
What would you do?
Obviously the junction with the toerail is a break point for the hull colour, so that is ok.
Cheers.
I'll post a pic as soon as poss.

Re: Gelcoat on epoxy fairing (west 410)

If everything else is gelcoat, go with new gelcoat, if it's LPU go with that. Both can be blended just fine onto the original and you shouldn't have any problems long term doing it if your prep is good. If you use gel over WEST with 410 I'd recommend a tie coat of 545 first, or you may have problems with the gel adhering to epoxy. Instead of trying to feather paint or gel onto your molded-in gel non-skid, just tape it off with fineline and spray up to it. Then you only have to wet sand and buff blends in the waterways.

Yup. Think I will use brushing unwaxed gelcoat to the toerail with heavy plastic over to edge of Toe, use fineline & pull early. Toerail down LPU. Thx!
No "mixed marriage" then.
