What a saga.. Just replace it...after all they only have been, 'mostly pretty reliable' what ever that means...

Re: Desperate for Brnz. Seacock Help

I have 2 bronze Groco rubber core seacocks from 1970 and they are still good.
They can also be greased with grease that WILL NOT swell buna rubber, but I also found if you clean the bronze bore, they turn easier.

They have not been zinced and are not bonded.

Seacock is still stuck and I am out of ideas. There is no clearance to tap the nutted end. I have tried PB Blaster, soaking it several times. I have tried to tap the valve body. I have cleared all the calcium buildup (valve is in open position).

My last two thoughts are to place a stopper in the valve outlet and fill with muriatic acid, or to try to find a small butane precision torch and try to heat the valve body enough to break it free.

Don't know how I am going to fix the broken handle, but would appreciate any suggestions to break the valve free. FYI, the seacocks were serviced 4-1/2 years ago. I just haven't exercised the valves enough.
TIA
what size ( hole diameter) is yours...I have 2 used available if you're interested...NOT for potable water..they where inlet/ outlet for head..both in good condition

The obsession with bronze is no longer warranted.
Trudesign valves don't need any adjustment or maintenance and are ABYC approved. They are as tough as your hull, won't burn before your hull does, won't seize and you won't ever need to worry about breaking off the handle.
I've had them for 5 years.

Check them out!

How about sudden impact? I read they withstand 500 lb pull for a minute, which is a slow steady force applied.
But what if you hit them with a 4 lb sledge? Would they crack with a sudden blow.
I dont think my bronze thru hulls would crack, they might deform.
Nothing wrong with keeping what you already have, if they are in good shape.

Re: Desperate for Brnz. Seacock Help

I suppose it depends how hard you hit them. Their site refers to an ISO standard of 1500 Newtons hitting it 10 times with no leaks.
In my boat there is no way there would ever be this kind of impact so I'm not concerned.
