Boom/mast failure

Hello all, juice here! I recently pulled my boat for bottom paint and some routine maintenance. While lowering my mast, the boom separated from it and now I'm not sure how to, or even where to start, to fix or repair it. The boat is an ericson 25 plus. Thank you for any help.

Its wrong, the gooseneck don't have any vertical articulation at all, I juts see a fine weld line broken? you can google at Zspar or any other mast maker for a new gooseneck...

Re: Boom/mast failure

It did look like only a broken weld so that makes me a little happier. I was running short on time and didn't have time to play with it. I'm going back to the boat in a couple days and will get a better look at it. Thanks for the quick reply.

Wait ,,,looking at the pictures again you have the articulation with a ss toggle at the boom link , just be sure to weld strong that black piece. Cheers.

Small boat but those two small welds look like something that was destined to fall apart. First thing you'll have to do is drill out the rivets and remove the bracket from the mast. Use SS or Monel rivets, not aluminum when you reinstall the bracket. See if the welder can add additional weld points to increase the strength.
