And, if you measure the holes Center-to-center they should be 6.850 (174mm), unless someone squeezed them together. Yanmar mounts are metric. If they've been bent then a failure is in the works. But according to a Yanmar forum the mounts look like the wrong ones. See pictures below.

Yes, it's standard practice. Just unbolt the shaft coupling.

Yes!
Depending on the motor, one can release the prop shaft coupler, jack the motor up and remove the mounts with or w/o the brackets.
Then of course one has to realign the shaft coupler, and then again after 50 hours of operation.

Correct, hole spacing in original as pictured is 6.85".

As for 4" only for 1GM, Torresen marine sells after market (Bushings Inc.) with 4" hole spacing for all GM series.

PYI has taken an R and D 4" spacing mount and added it to a base with 6.85" spacing, which consists of a piece of steel with 4 holes, two of them threaded.

Where can I get a 6.85" center adapter base to which I can attach a 4" center mount?

I just heard about guys having problems with their yanmar engine mountings - I have a lagoon 440 about a year and a half since new and have lost the engine mounts.
This is quite troubling!

Might I ask?
How many hours do you have on them?
And is the prop shaft pushing against the motor? IAW is there a separate thrust bearing for the shaft to push against?

Hi - I have no problem with 'defending' - always open to the fact I could be doing something wrong too.
Engines have about 600hrs. I complained a lot about vibration. Eventually yanmar agent looked at mountings and told me they were gone.
We have a SD 50 attached to engine, so no shaft. Agents have done more than recommend servicing to the motors as I am quite fussy about this.

We eventually replace our yanmar engine mounts with Polyform. They are out of Australia. I've talked with Yanmar shops and they say the OEM mounts are of course a cheap option for Yanmar when they are installed with new engines.

The technical assistance at the Polyform distributor here in the states was awesome and they make custom mounts for Yanmar replacements.

Biggest advantage is that the Polyform mounts are not constructed out of metals and therefore will NOT rust in the future. We are very happy when them so far.

My question is how one makes theses after market replacements (e.g. AU Class III) offshore certified? There needs to be a hole or some other means of securing the mounts for a rollover. Maybe a cable from the wood to the top of the mount.
And the problem with Poly Flex is they do not bolt straight up (174mm), one needs an adaptor just like the R & D, which would require metal that can rust/corrode. http://www.polyflex.com.au/Products/...v5_2009cat.pdf

Rollover? The existing polyflex bolt to the top and bottom of the engine brackets. Engine is not going anywhere.

For our installation we didn't need any type of adaptor. Swap and go.
