YAMAHA ME EH B36HP parts in Sydney

Hi
I recently purchased a 1983 South Coast 36 in Sydney, Australia that has a YAMAHA ME180 EH B 36HP inboard motor. The motor is currently fine and only has 280 hours on it however, I want to get some parts for it for when I need them. I also need to add a temp gauge as it did not come with one. I have Googled them and can not find a distributor around Sydney.
Does any one know where I can get parts?

Cheers

I have used a dealer at Brooklyn NSW and found them very helpful. Can't remember the phone but you will find it in the book.

If stuck try Brad 0468487602 Pompei's marine Mordialloc Vic. pompeitrading@bigpond.com.
Google up Watchdog combination digital temp + alarm built in Brisbane listed on ebay great unit very easy to installed.

Hey I'm one mooring closer to the boat ramp.
Guess that makes us neighbours.

With a brief search I can't find anything about this engine. Had not heard about Yamaha inboards and was curious. Could you give us a short description of the engine? Is it diesel? How many cylinders/ etc.

Thanks,

Jim

Jim, I think I looked at that boat when it was for sale years ago, or a similar SC36.

It's a big engine for a 36 hp, seems well designed.

I did a bit of checking at the time, IIRC Westerbeke used them as a base engine some time after they stopped using Perkins.

Hi Jim

and thank you to all that have responded. Hopefully the weather will be kind to me this weekend and I will get on board and get some pics and more info. The manual's are on board, then post them.

Regards Manni

Hi Shakey doug,

is just bolting the sensor on to the motor a satisfactory method of keeping a check on the motor temperature? I have found the EBAY ad
ENGINE WATCHDOG TM4 (( AUDIBLE )) ENGINE TEMPERATURE ALARM with HI TEMP RECORDER
and you are correct they are very well priced.

Hi Rob

yes it does, there are few boats closer to the ramp which are acting as sea gull sanctuaries, they are bad in that area. Hopefully, I will get out there this weekend.

Re: YAMAHA ME EH B36HP parts in Sydney

G'day Manni,
I have installed many units to both pleasure and commercial craft with only positive feed back. Ease of installation has to be the plus, the best area for the sensor is around the thermostat. They react quickly to coolant loss or raw water flow problems. As the techo side of sensors ete has improved, more and more manufacturers in both automotive and industrial situations have started using them.
