Cummins 6BT

Twin engine installation. Port engine runs 10 to 15 degrees warmer. Port engine will overheat when run at high rpm. Port engine was replaced. Heat exchanger, oil coolers. and raw water pickups have been swaped. Any ideas.

Re: Cummins 6BT

Clogged raw water pick-up.
Clogged sea strainer.
Failed raw water impeller.
Remnants from previous impeller failures clogging somewhere downstream.
Feeble water pump">raw water pump. (any sign of leakage there?)
Choked raw water system. (need a flush with Barnacle Buster or similar)

(Ignore extra "> characters above (if you can see them); I can't seem to edit them out... I type pump and it renders as pump">raw water pump... Strange???)

Re: Cummins 6BT

I had some problems with that too ... finally found that the plastic "basket" for the filter to the raw water intake had cracked around the rim and had dropped and was restricting the outlet opening to the filter.
