The black box

What is function of this "black box"?

With all that jumble of wiring it's impossible to see what wire is connected to what....
But the black box has a hose connected to it, so it's either a pump ( if it has wiring connected) or it's a strainer box for a remote mounted pump. Follow the hose and see where it goes.

It’s a “Strum-Box”, or bilge pump strainer.

Do you have a manual bilge pump? Looks like the pickup point for a manual pump. If I am correct, the housing includes a debris filter.

Ha… as usual, Gord gives the best answer. Strum box eh?

Above two are correct. I have same thing, it's pickup for my cockpit mounted Whale Bilge pump
