Perkins 4.154 Oil Cooler pipes?

Perkins 4.154 Oil Cooler pipes?
Hi everyone
I have a Perkins 4.154 (62hp) diesel originally built in Florida.
One of the flexible pipes feeding from the oil pump to the oil cooler is starting to show signs of leaking. Other pipes leading from the Borg Warner Velvet Drive gearbox to the oil cooler are also suspect.

Perkins no longer offer spare parts for these and cannot even give me any specifications for the flexible pipes

My problem is I need to buy new pipes BUT I dont want to disturb the existing ones until I have the new ones in case I damage them beyond refitting and become disabled.

Does anyone know the thread types and sizes for these pipes.

Also when I do replace them will I need to bleed the oil cooler to remove any air or does the system handle that itself.

thanks
Pete

heat exchangers

We have purchased heat exchangers from Lenco in the past and found them to be very helpfull. The have a great online catalog as well. The Perkins pages begin at this link. PERKINS REPLACEMENT OIL COOLERS
We have a 108 and use their oversized heat exchanger for our water loop. Nice product and good prices.

Good luck.

Complete yacht out of Ft. Lauderdale can probably help you out, too.

Hello Pete I encountered the same problem with my Perkins, I was able to locate a local shop that repairs and replaces all kinds of hydraulic and other sorts of lines and hoses. They made a new set of oil lines in about half an hour, they matched the old ones perfectly but were made of modern materials. If you can find out where your local excavation contractors take their damaged hydraulic lines for repair and inquire there, I'll bet they can solve the problem. Jesse

the pipe fittings on the cooler should be 1/2" NPT. then an adapter to flare fitting is installed. The hoses can be made by any hydraulics hose supply.
