Boat Propels into Restaurant in Fl

I heard it on the news this morning; talk about drive through.

Anyway, this is a good example of how fog plays badly when navigating.

Check news outlets for more info.

That boat was moving too fast for fog conditions if it made it that far up the beach!

Not to derail the thread too far but my wife, six month old son and myself were sitting by a window in a cafe a couple of weeks ago when an old gal on oxygen hit the store front. Took hours for our heart rate to normalize.

Now I have to watch for boats too?

So he can afford a $500,000 boat, but not a simple chartplotter with good navionics? What a tool..

Figure a fuel consumption of about 125 to 150 gl an hour at full tilt.

It's amazing how fast oil rigs, and restaurants, can move in the fog. They just pop up outta nowhere, and they always seem to be coming right at you.

Yeah, but you never run full throttle until after you've picked up the load and the Coast Guard starts chasing you.

re: Boat Propels into Restaurant in Fl

Back in '06 a 50' Sea Ray, in heavy fog, ran over a 31' charter fishing boat out of Tarpon Springs. It was reported the Sea Ray was traveling around 30 mph & was on auto pilot. The fishing boat had 4 people on it & was pretty much cut in half. One woman was seriously injured & later died.

Driving this boat into a restaurant seems funny but make no mistake, idiots like this will flat out kill you if you cross their path in the fog.
