Just pulled the trigger on one of these, on sale for $38 at Amazon:



Cheaper than most, but sadly no Amazon Prime shipping.

A good solution for those of us with an older diesel with a breather tube just hanging down to the bilge. One of these will make your boat smell less like oil and keep your engine compartment significantly cleaner. I made my own out of PVC fittings but the great thing about the JPEGS unit is the clear, easily drained bowl, which 99.9% of oil catch cans don't have.

You could in theory run the outlet to the air intake, but with an older engine that raise the spectre of a runaway engine. I've opted to put a cheap K&N vent filter on it.
