Multihull Galley Up or Galley Down

Cruisingcat - I would like to know more about making pizza on the barbecue. I also plan to bring the breadmaker next time as we made bread frequently and that was a lot of unwanted heat.

Said it before and I will say it again, most of the Galley up proponents use a phrase like "and the cook is part of the conversation", and many of the galley up boats have a helm that you have to climb up to, so it appears having the cook as part of the conversation is more important than having the helms-person as part of the conversation.

Me too. Depends a lot on the use of the boat.

Also, I've found that "both" works out well too. For example, galley up build but with some less frequently accessed galley items down. For example, storage of dry goods, less often used galley gear, additional freezer/fridge space, microwave/second oven...

Tamicatana, you are entitled to your opinion but not your own facts - a cat can be and, if properly designed, will be balanced as to weight from side to side even with a galley down. I also asked which galley-down boats you were basing your opinon on, but if you would prefer to leave your opinioin baseless that is fine. I do feel sorry for you, however, if you feel that your staterooms are like dungeons - it must make sleep difficult!

I'm not looking for a conversation when I'm cooking. They might want a special order!

In our case, one major criterion was sufficient headroom for a 6'8" person. And I particularly wanted him to have extra headroom in the galley. He makes excellent breakfasts. :-) He really would not be comfortable cooking in any "up" galley we have seen.
