Re: The End of a Myth ?

Clocking 8.8 the chase 8.0, 10% faster right now.

Aside from our cruising and liveaboard issues, should she win, wondering how many of next edition Minis/Open40/Imocas will look alike.

Re: The End of a Myth ?

Well one thing it would be easier to drop off and pick up passengers with that bow. Especially with limited dock space. And it seems to be holding it's own in the race. I'm wondering if the bow does not dive as deep into a wave in rough seas like a pointed bow would?

Aside: looks like one of the boats in the race hit something and was abandoned:

Re: The End of a Myth ?

Whoa. Indeed one of them went onto a UFO. Too bad for poor guy and his boat.

Good to know he is fine.

Re: The End of a Myth ?

My Westsail 32 carried the beam far forward and when it beat to windward, it made quite a splash. Maybe they should redo the Westsail 32 out of carbon fiber so that it only weights 1000 lbs.

Re: The End of a Myth ?

Note there was another one, a 'pointy' one by the same designer there, and she did very well too!

I think the designer was driving the blunt thing though.

It's not a new idea.
