REMOVING SWING KEEL FROM A MACGREGOR 25 FOR A GREAT LOOP BOAT

I was wondering about removing swing keel from my mac 25 and adding large battery bank down low lots of solar up top for 5,000 mile trip around the loop just motoring no sails up will the lack of the keel adversely affect the the handling of boat thanks in advance mike

I'm not familiar with the stability characteristics of a MacGregor 25, but there are significant open water strecthes on the trip including the Coast of Florida and crossing at a minimum 2 great lakes (Huron and Michigan).

I wouldn't want to try open water voyages on a boat of questionable stability that could probably only go about 6 knots. Sure, if it was a little 19' Searay and you could pick your weather windows and scoot across in half a day maybe.

Sounds like not a great idea to me, but again, I've never been aboard a MacGregor 25.
