Morgan Out Island 49

Hello from Scotland.

Just got ourselves a Morgan O/I 49, one of 9? Built wondering if there is any info or other owners out there.

She is called "Fruit Cakes" and was brought to the uk a couple of years ago.

Well always fancied a livaboard type yacht but never had the time or the cash, have decided to make the time and as for the cash well thats not so easy to make but will try. Anyway I know a bloke who used to work in a boatyard who I am sure will help me sort her out at no charge

Thanks for the posts, I do however have an OI 49 not a 51.. It has had an extended bow sprit so its now a OI 53 !!

Have brought her home ( Findhorn IV36 3YE uk ) and now the adventure begins. Lots of work to do but lots of fun to be had.

Good morning Simon and congratulations. I have a fairly extensive collection of old sailboat brochures that I keep on line. The Morgan 49 is certainly a rare bird. I have an original build sheet and options sheet on the boat, but no profile drawing or original brochure (if anyone does, I'd love to have a scanned copy to put on line). I haven't posted the 49 on line yet, but if you send me an email I'll forward you the little bit of information I have.

Dear Simon, We have owned a Morgan OI 49 since 1992. We love the boat - have been cruising full time in the Caribbean since 1999. Presently we are back in the US completing some boat projects. Would be happy to share any info on the Morgan - We know of 2 other OI 49, one on the chesapeake as of 08 and one in charter trade in the Caribbean (hull #1) We have hull #2 good luck Deb
