Beginning sailor wants to do things right

Hello everyone!
I finally was able to buy a sailboat this last week and as you probably guessed, I have a few questions. Any and all help would be great. First off, I'm trying to find out the original name of my 31' seafarer. I know it was changed at some point. Internet wants money and my boat needs all of that at the moment. Thanks in advance to all who chime in. Scottyincosta and Maggie Bean!

if it is a documented boat there are free web sites you can search the nme and it will tell you the past boat names and owners

If it is a California registered boat I would imagine you can check with the office that takes your money for registration and do a bit of research. I know that's how it's done here with the freedom of information act.
kind regards,

Does Carfax work for boats? That might show previous owners....

If the boat is USCG documented you can go to this web site

Office of Science and Technology

and enter the official name and it will show you the current documentation information and previous documented names of the boat.

Re: Beginning sailor wants to do things right

Still no luck finding any past info on my boat. Registration says it's undocumented. CF # CF 8360 FP hull ID SFRX303M74F that's all I have. any suggestions?
