The Balboa 20 is a classic Lyle Hess design capable of going offshore. I had a 1972 that I sailed in 15 knots safely and comfortable. Having recently moved to Florida, would love to have another. Where is your boat located?

Its tough. I sailed mine in 40 knots.....not intentionaly, but I was there when all hell broke loose and I won the race and have the trophy on the mantle.

I bought an Ensenada 20, which I believe is very close to the same boat as the Balboa 20, two years ago for $1,100. That included the boat, a 5hp Mariner outboard, and a good trailer. It was in decent shape except that I had to get a new tiller handle, and reseal a bolthole related to the drain and pipe for the cable for raising/lowering the swingkeel.

Bought it here in Kentucky where we enjoy sailing it on Cave Run Lake.

I tend to think that the $1000. mark may be that price I will get but it would be worth working with the marina to see if they can do better. The manager said that they can not get enough lower priced boats in.
