Re: Time for Northwest - Passage 2018

Could this go part way in explaining why there is a "degree" of derision on the pros versus cons of CC?...

Re: Time for Northwest - Passage 2018

When we (humans) can manage our current issues, like overfishing, rampant consumerism, pollution from plastics and nano crud that impact the entire food chain then maybe we can think longer term.

I find the abuse and misunderstanding of scientists and good science to be abhorrent.

The mass media and it's worshippers are a disease for which we need to find a cure. We seem to be dumming down more and more people who end up in positions of power and they make stupid decisions.

The whole global warming thing has been hijacked by the 'business' of science primarily to ensure funding in perpetuity for research instead of problem solving.

exactly.
Heck the professionals ( the science community) can't even agree on anything not involving money.

OK - However icebreakers have little impact on ice extent.

What is troublesome is the potential for oil spills in an environmentally sensitive area.

Here is something that I saw today that is of some concern . We will have to see how it all plays out.

Happy New Year, everyone!
(It's the planet's birthday, so the emoji is relevant)

So, we still doing this?

happy New year LE yes it seems we are .
It has evolved quite nicely into a thread to share articles that are potentially important to the continued pleasure trips into the arctic ocean . While still maintaining the pristine environmental aspects.

Quote Sailoar.
"You see solar activity plays a rather minor role. Most of the temperature control happens in the atmosphere. Maybe I'll show you how that works when I have time to prepare something."

Thanks Sailoar I wish you would as I like the way you explain things

here is more concerning the effects on the planet due to lower solar irradiance.

Funny how after just over 100yrs of recording climate man is convinced he knows all there is to know about how things work..
Reminds me of the Christians response to finding the body of an 8'000yr old baby in Europe.. or anything else older than 6000yrs come to that..
God planted it there to test our faith..
Nature does what it does.. we just speculate.. kinda like reading the runes, throw some bones on the ground and invent a story.

Re: Time for Northwest - Passage 2018

I would not be concerned.

Quote:
After 1980, however, the Earth's temperature exhibits a remarkably steep rise, while the Sun's irradiance displays at the most a weak secular trend. Hence the Sun cannot be the dominant source of this latest temperature increase, with man-made greenhouse gases being the likely dominant alternative.
