Re: Global Warming Opens Up Antarctic Waterways

Lots of talking past one another in this thread. I thank those who took the time to look up and post valuable info for the consideration of all. It would be great if the argument could be settled on the basis of facts. Unfortunately that is not the case. No argument will move folks who are concerned about being dispossesed (real fear, or strawman). Still, not a bad effort for a community which gets agitated about ground tackle.
Now, I must begin rounding up my compliance paperwork for my up coming visit to the yard. The price of progress!

You just have NO respect for ground tackle!

As jackdale pointed out - < 350 ppm; the levels on which civilization developed, and to which life on Earth is adapted.
The last time the concentration of CO2 was as high as 400 ppm was probably in the Pliocene Epoch, between 2.6 and 5.3 million years ago. Until the 20th century, it certainly hadn't exceeded 300 ppm, let alone 400 ppm, for at least 800,000 years. That's how far back scientists have been able to measure CO2 directly in bubbles of ancient air trapped in Antarctic ice cores.

Compared to our stone age brethren, we're already baking in a climatic oven. We, and the things we depend upon, seem to have adapted just fine. Why shouldn't that continue into future? What proof is there that would suggest otherwise?

It says "Ice-core data." It's called reading.

Look at the right side of the graph.

The most sensible post in this thread. It's the sizzle that needs to be sold and not the sausage, to quote an old sales dictum.

If only this angle was pushed instead of the constant stream of totally unproven and unquantified doom and gloom scenarios.

Sorry sometimes my satirical humor side is beyond some people's ability to sense I was actually making fun of all the Global Warming folks' lockstep with the GW group mantra. I am often amazed by how the masses will accept as fact, the propaganda offered by "their" side.

Oh, and my side..... my side is in the middle; I believe almost nothing other than the weather forecast (and even that is dubious) that I see on Fox, CNN, CNBC etc..... I'll swallow a little bit more from BBC, however I digress.... Why has nobody offered a comment to the following:

The World has been cooling and warming for BILLIONS of years without mankind's help... what an arrogant thought that we have (or can) do anything to affect that!

Re: Global Warming Opens Up Antarctic Waterways

It's difficult to understand how so many can still believe a discredited theory that defies common sense. North of Boston here in Whoville. We got 12 ft of snow in 5 weeks along with continuous sub zero Temps for 45 days (C). And still the locals continue to believe in global warming as the snow gets dumped on their thick skulls.

It's difficult to understand how someone doesn't know the difference between weather and climate.

Here, these should help:
http://space.io9.com/climate-change-...now-1555108488

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/...es-the-answer/

http://m.huffpost.com/us/entry/4537598

http://smdp.com/earth-talk-cold-weat...t-exist/131729

http://grist.org/news/how-to-respond...lobal-warming/

Also interesting, the world is larger than the box you live in. Yes, it twas cold for you poor folk in the American north east. Which, oddly, isn't the center of the universe.

Here in the Caribbean, for example, it's been one of the hottest and driest winters in centuries.

Could you also link me to this peer reviewed scientific study that disproves climate change?

Able to "know the difference" between fact and B.S. on my own. Don't need your help.

You live in one of the few places on the planet that is cold.

Why did you buy that bridge? I know better.

Now provide some evidence to support your assertion.
