Sailing from Oxnard to Marina del Rey, CA

I just bought a Columbia 26 at Channel Islands Harbor in Oxnard. I am preparing it to sail down to a new slip at Marina del Rey in Los Angeles.

I would like as much information on this trek as possible. About how long will this sail take? Any useful/helpful information for before we push off or while we are out there? Anything to watch out for or be especially aware of? Anything extra we should bring other than the required safety equipment, warm layers, food, water?

You're looking at a nice daysail..particularly this time of year. If you leave Channel Islands by 9 AM, you'll be in by 4 PM, with any luck. You'll likely be motorsailing till 1 PM, which is about the time that the westerlys kick in..should be a good ride the last 3 hours or so.

Bring lunch & snacks, if you're so inclined..light jacket or sweatshirt for the morning..and sunscreen. Have fun.
