Navigating From Chile to New Zealand

Hello to honorable cruisers' community. As I read in one of yours mottos - None of us is as smart as we all together. I liked it. So I apply for your assistance in getting good navigation charts' websites for traveling from Valparaiso, Chile to New Zealand, en route visiting Easter and Pitcairn islands. The sailboat ARMENIA successfully passed Cape Horn from East to West and is in Valparaiso preparing for its next passage through the Pacific. We need your professional and friendly advice.
If you could provide any other important information re that trip, it would be highly welcomed and appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Try the NZ govt charts. Available for download and can be printed out. They cover the area.

You are very welcome.

Just in case, they are here:

Chart Images

And some of them, even though they do not download from the interface, can be downloaded by specifying the file name in any download manager.

You will need a big printer for them, alternatively you can print each in 4 pieces (always include 2 borders!) on a smaller printer onboard.

Cheers,
barnie

Dear Lance,

Sorry, we have nothing to do with Chile. It was just one of the stops of our circumnavigation. Maybe somebody else can respond to you and be helpful. I wish you good luck in your endeavor!

Re: Navigating From Chile to New Zealand

Ruzanna:
I did the trip last year but from northern Chile (Iquique). Although I wanted to stop at Easter and Pitcairn, I did not. I was alone and the Chilean Armada wants someone on board all the time in Easter and there was 50 kt winds around Pitcairn when I was close so I bypassed. I did not have an electrical windlass and the thought of anchoring in the deep blue with a new anchor/boat combination gave me the jim jams. Next time.
I will say the passage to Isles Gambier (35 days for me) was effortless. Steady SE trades the whole way and no dramas. No fish or whales or anything else, either. It really is the 'empty quarter', ocean wise.
Have a good sail.
Pete

Re: Navigating From Chile to New Zealand

Dear Pete,
thank you for your notes and good wishes. Our Yacht successfully made the passage to NZ, Australia, Indian Ocean and completed the circumnavigation. It did stop at Easter island and Tubuai. Paradise.
With best wishes,
Ruzanna
