Ruzanna:
I did the trip last year but from northern Chile (Iquique). Although I wanted to stop at Easter and Pitcairn, I did not. I was alone and the Chilean Armada wants someone on board all the time in Easter and there was 50 kt winds around Pitcairn when I was close so I bypassed. I did not have an
electrical windlass and the thought of
anchoring in the deep blue with a new anchor/boat combination gave me the jim jams. Next time.
I will say the passage to Isles Gambier (35 days for me) was effortless. Steady SE trades the whole way and no dramas. No
fish or whales or anything else, either. It really is the 'empty quarter', ocean wise.
Have a good sail.
