Re: sail boat rescue

The captain was a 69 year old and this was his lifelong dream.
may get some more details next week when I speak with SAR techs. Boat make and what actually happened.
Unfortunate his dream turned into a nightmare.
Here is a link of footage taken, one pilot here mentioned that by time they got on scene the seas were flattening out to some extent and wind had slackened.
Didn't look too nasty in video however most likely was quite a different scene in the hours previous.

Re: sail boat rescue

Boat looks good. I think he just PTSD out or ran out of canned pizza.

Re: sail boat rescue

He is fortunate to have been rescued. I am thinking that, yes, the worst of that gale was past, and that there was something seriously wrong with his gear, or it had been too d--n ugly for him to risk getting the headsail down. Not a confidence builder, at all.

The ones who are willing to go down the cable, risking contact with the mast flailing about, plunging into icy cold water to rescue a stranger, both kindly and brave are they. Kudos, indeed.

Who scorns the calm has forgotten the storm.
