Big bird problem in my mostly powerboat marina. Few other masts.

Bird spokes on masthead, fishing line above spreaders, and fishing line down backstay from antenna mount to block of wood hose clamped to backstay as spacer. This one is key, about 3 inches off of backstay behind it- deters landing.

Almost no poop now....

Re: Oh Poop!

Seagulls
Did you know seagulls are a protected species?

So please note their nests during this current breeding season must not be interfered with. If anyone is caught offending they could face a serious fine.

Remember, we are in a sensitive environment area and plenty of St Kilda locals are keeping an eye on the Squadron and its activities.

I use the fishing line in the spreaders and fine nylon netting 3inches above the deck, worked perfect this season. and I would never upset a nest on My boat, I would just give it up as to not upset a greeny.

Re: Oh Poop!

Ok, lots of info on how to keep seagulls crapping on the boat. Now, how to keep the greenies crapping on your life? I liked the one that was activisting on behalf of polar bears, and got eaten by one. Good work that man...

Re: Oh Poop!

Many moons ago, I had a similar problem and I was directed to a product called 'hot-foot'. It works!
Here's a link Bird Repellent Gel Product Data from Hot Foot

At the bottom of the page on this link are other bird control doo-dads also.

Local authorities can take a leaf out of Freemantle Chamber of Commerce's Book. Feeding seagulls in restricted areas (usually in proximity of harbourside restaurants) is a misdemeanour and attracts a small on-the-spot fine. There is a vast difference between protecting a bird species and encouraging it to become dependent on humans for food.

When the food supply is suspended, the birds soon get the picture and shoot through.

Now you know why it is called the 'poop deck'.
