New NOAA Voice Jan 11 - Test Market

Heard on the NOAA Weather Channel for Charlotte, NC that they will be testing a new NOAA voice for several months beginning 1/11/2016.

I'll let everyone know what it sounds like.

I'm hoping for something sultry and sexy like maybe Kathleen Turner from Romancing the Stone type.

Hallelujah! It's about time.

Text-to-voice technology has improved in leaps and bounds over the last decades, but NOAA has been stuck with the same awful garbled electronic squawkers since 2002.

Well, I've been listening to the new voice for a few days and it is unremarkable. Male voice and maybe a little less choppy than before. Not much of an improvement. Likely a waste of money.

Still would like to hear a voice like Kathleen Turner.

So much better than the pretty comical older one, though. I remember testing the four voices they offered to replace it.
