My Video...Carpet Removed

Carpet is removed, sanded away the glue and painted. I will be making a video of the boat next time I have the camera on there. Big change. I wanted to post this first so the difference can be seen.

The link didn't work for me, but I'm very interested to hear how your project turned out. I have 20 year old carpet in the interior of my boat and have been struggling with what to replace it with. I'm sure the painted surface looks better, but I'm wondering if you notice any downsides from removing the carpet. For instance, is the boat louder now, or does it get hotter inside without the insulation of the carpet?

it is cleaner, brighter, smells fresh, washes down with a rag. I have found no downsides to removing that nasty stuff.

Try logging into a google account and then click on the link. I made the link able to be viewed by anyone who has the video is in google docs.

Melisa is the superhero as it looks like she is the one doing the cleaning - LOL...

Carpet is bad - A buddy has it as headliner and when you touch it it snows fibers continuously. Yuck...

Logging into Google is required. I guess those without a Google account won't be able to see your vids.

I am planning my interior refit (in the future) and will e looking for a good spongy vinyl (like the original) for the replacement.

I showed her this thread last night. We got a laugh out of your reply;-)

She was watching movies at the time and I was busy ripping out the back bulkead that goes up against the exit from cabin to cockpit entrance.

I'm lucky to have such a hard worker. No work for us tonight. Going to relax on the boat. I'll be getting the follow up video this evening and posting it next chance I get. Much improved. I'll also make sure to let you guys/gals know of what we are doing for the next steps on the boat. Steps being the main word. We have a dog that can't climb up and down from cockpit to cabin. I'm rebuilding them so that they are more step like as opposed to the current almost ladder like angle.

You might want to consider a 2 part hinged stair. When you need it you unfold it and when not it tucks away so you have more room. Visualize those attic access stairs. Be careful with the headroom part. Ouch. My friend did this and it was a good fit.

Good idea. I was originally thinking 1 part hinged removable at the top to get it out of the way if I needed to, but the 2 part hing and top hinge being easily removable sounds even better and it sounds fairly simple. Though, I must say that in theory, every idea I have sounds simple in my own head;-)

This is the last of them for now. I always hate when a thread is started and not finished up with, so I was working on photos today and found these in here. I'll add to it as we continue. I'm working on the steps/ladder and galley now.
