Following on from our entry in the Introductions and Greets forum a couple of weeks ago "Vertical Learning Curve". We can announce that today we paid over the money and now own Solent Venture our very own Moody 471. Scary eh?

Thanks to Pblais for his offer of a slip, much appreciated.

We won't bore you with the details of servicing the heads and cleaning winches as these jobs progress over the coming months. But we will certainly be back here to pick up tips and ask questions from those who know far more than we do.

If it's OK with you we will post details of the major milestones in our progress towards the 'big blue'.

Great to hear that you are now a boat owner. Dont try to do everything at once. There is always a great pressure to finish everything off as soon as possible so tha the boat can go in the water and you can start sailing. Divide your list of tasks into 3 sections:

those that need doing to get her seaworthy + those that need to be done while ashore,

those that are essential to safe sailing,

those that need to be addressed fairly soon.

remember that even the preperation of the boat is supposed to be part of the fun time so relax, and spend time talking to the other boaters doing the same tasks It will help to get tips to do the job faster, and makes it easier to grab an extra pair of hands when needed.

Although I’ve never sailed (nor worked on) a Moody, I have “sundowned” a 47 - these are seriously beautiful boats.
Which interior layout is “Solent Venture”?
