I'll bet CapJT thinks this is a thread drift but that's because he's youthfuller than some of us.
Gee, I seem to have made an impression on you since you keep posting about me....I am not the self appointed thread drift police, except when people try to use it to put forward their own political views that have absolutely nothing to do with the subject being discussed. I feel this way about bringing politics/religion into these discussions because none of us will convince the rest of us that our point of view is wrong so why even try? Plus, people tend to get very passionate about politics and it just makes things uncomfortable when someone is posting what you view as sheer idiocy, whatever side of the table you happen to be on. We just don't need that here. I'm pretty confident that a few posts playing around with the word Karman Ghia (I had my first 3 car accidents in one, which probably saved my life when much later on I had a Porsche Carrera, but that's a whole different sort of thread drift...) aren't going to inflame passions and completely take over this thread for page after page like someone trying to put forward their own political views would. See the difference? Thread creep...normal and often entertaining. Political or religious thread creep...inappropriate. Hope that clarifies my viewpoint. Do you disagree?

Just jiving ya JT. I am not the champion thread drifter on here but I could be more disciplined. Still, a thread like this that includes references to authority are prime to spill over into politics. I don't mind it myself (I have never voted for a presidential winner ... yet) but I take yer point.

Every story like this makes things worse for sailors generally, and cruisers especially. And this story just screams: WTF?

I got stopped and inspected 3 x in one day when I putted over to see the Tall Ships awhile back. Yet these foreign nationals can stay a year in a temporary anchorage, presumably pooping straight into the water, with absolutely no backlash is just wrong to me. Hell, I'll shoot 'em myself.

Guess we don't want to go there.

Wait a minute, I'm confused. I've been STEALING all the candy, but never tried EATING it.

You mean, I'm supposed to steal it AND eat it? I've had that wrong all these years?

Re: ICW "Pirates". Have you Seen?

Found them!

SV Primadonna, aground at Booby Island in the Bahamas. It is a tiny island of 300, not normally on tourist / cruiser lists. Apparently the vessel & crew entered the Bahamas without checking in with authorities. Pat Stockwell tells TownDock.net he was told the Primadonna crew may have been arrested – Bahamian authorities are harsher about the rules than they are in the USA. The photo was taken from a US Coast Guard helicopter – the Coast Guard patrols the Bahamas as part of a cooperation agreement with the Bahamas to fight drug trafficking.

Remember, they still have ~$2500 of the Provision Company's money. Besides that, if you are used to living-on-the-cheap, your lifestyle is such that you can make that kind of money last a long time.

Is ""Booby Island" Booby Cay off of Mayagauna? It's the only "booby" anything I could google in the bahamas that wasn't a picture of a woman's chest.
