I was going to put it on the trailer two days ago, but it won't budge now. This is the first time on this lake prior to a big storm like this, I wasn't expecting them to drop the level this much, this soon.

Thankfully, I was able to get my boat out of the water. I know I'm only on a lake, but I'd still rather it be on its trailer for these storms.

The lake came up a few tenths of a foot, enough so that the boat was close to floating. The prop and rudder were still buried in soft mud. I took out everything i could to lighten her up. I waded out there and dug them out with a shovel, then dug a trench to deeper water. Took me three hours.

Going to look right up Hermine's skirt.

Doubled docklines, canvas down, expecting 40-50kt winds and 2-3 feet of surge max.
Sorry, Weather Channel, it will be concerning but probably not cataclysmic.
At least you wont run aground in tbat stupid marina. marinas irritate me at limes lol

Still blowing here. 40 gusting to 53 last report. Not a good day. The wind has been from the south, and blowing straight up the river where I am. Dock 1 has the marina office, gas pumps, pumpout, and a number of fingers. The ones on the south side are breaking up, and pretty sure the whole dock is toast. Last I checked, my boat was ok, but time to go check again since the wind picked up. Right now, sitting at a computer in the cruiser's lounge in a nice comfy, chair that isn't moving....

Hermine is a bitch. You guys up the coast, don't underestimate it. Be safe everyone.

Yep.

Looks like they are going to try to move Bonefish (a big dang motor yacht). Seems one of the cement pilings broke off and is under the boat. Something like that....

How is dock 11 doing? My Leopard 43 is on the inside net to the shore.

Thanks a bunch.

You should be fine down on 11 where you are. Winds have moved more to the west now. Still blowing hard (til maybe 5 PM), but the River has smoothed out A LOT. The marina staff has been checking the docks and calling anyone with a problem.

Hurricane/Tropical Storm Party at the clubhouse at 5PM, since First Friday is a bust. Come on over. I'll buy you a beer. Oops, it's never ending FREE beer here.

PS- just saw your PM, and are out of town. I'll go have a look and PM you back.

Been in that situation twice now. The dock boards hammered from below by wave action as the water rises.

Last time only the pilings remained and the boats were unharmed mostly. After it settled down I rowed the dingy through the party in the flooded tiki bar a grabbed a couple of free drinks while my neighbors laughed and endorsed the my method of refreshment aquizition.

Hopefully all those currently in the line of fire can come out as unscathed as well and celebrate the calm that comes after.

I think I slept through it, where I was, it didn't amount to much.
Most work was getting the anchor unstuck, I had worked real hard to get it set, successfully it seems

Re: Hurricane or TS: Florida W & E coast, East coast USA to NYC

I am sitting on my boat just a little north of Oriental, NC. Lots of rain so far today. Winds have been slowly building but should not be bad until late tonight early tomorrow when the eye passes over. Still glad the storm has lost a lot of its initial energy.

I think I am all prepped, at least I hope so. Good luck to all that are in the path.

Re: Hurricane or TS: Florida W & E coast, East coast USA to NYC

Thanks SoundWave. Hope you all did well last night.
The back end of Hermine was pretty tame compared to the front.
The storm may build again as it heads north. Could go back to hurricane status.

I was going to head to Beaufort today, then on out into the Gulf Stream to play some. It is still a little too "aggressive" out there for the next few days.

Yikes. I got friends in Brunswick.

I am getting ready for 3 days in the boat in NYC on a mooring. Everyone else has scarpered into the marina. Maybe they know sommit I don't? Maybe I dont like parking in mud in a rickerty marina

Yeah I'm pretty sure it was at Golden Isles marina, and I don't know the whole story... Seriously sucks though. I think I'd want to be with you out on a mooring rather than in the marina if the docks can't handle it (obviously)
