es series Raymarine chart plotter

My chart plotters log got to 76.6nm about 3 months ago and hasn't moved since then. I can't work out what I've done wrong. I can't find anywhere in the manual to turn the log on or off.
Can anyone help? I'm new to chart plotters so take it easy on me lol.

Kind regards
Rob

Probably paddle wheel is not spinning.

Do you get a speed through water reading? (Not sog).

My GPS gives me speed and I thought it would also record distance traveled?
I haven't put my paddle wheel down as I have speed from the GPS.

Re: es series Raymarine chart plotter

As said, no logwheel, no log data on MFD, also no true wind data (only apparent) as the computer uses speed over water to derive true from apparent.

Re: es series Raymarine chart plotter

Thank you meirriba.
This is the information I've been looking for. As basic as it now sounds, for someone who has never used a chart plotter before this, as far as I can see isn't mentioned in my manual of over 400 pages.

Re: es series Raymarine chart plotter

As far as I am aware, the log on the Raymarine chart plotter is a "ground" log, and the distance is derived from GPS.
Have you applied all the applicable Raymarine software updates? There was an issue with the ground log reset function not working which was fixed with a software update a couple of years ago.
