Sticky vinyl!!??

I have a 24 YO Gemini Catamaran. IT has some white vinyl finish fabric in the interior. In many areas the vinyl has oozed some sticky stuff . Does anyone know how to remove this sticky stuff without damaging the vinyl's finish? It is not dirty or moldy, just sticky. Thanks.

I believe that’s the plasticizers coming out, and short answer is I don’t think you can really.

Re: Sticky vinyl!!??

When our fenders get that way, we remove the plasticizer with acetone. It may damage the fabric, however. I suggest making terrycloth covers for it if it is cushions. If it is like overhead or interior hull covering, try the adhesive remover first, then the acetone, but be repaired to remove and replace the lot. Almost 25 yrs. old isn't bad, for vinyl. It won't be cheap.

Some people remove it altogether, then paint with self-texturizing paint.
