Question Do You Wear Pants?

the question is clear and well formed, and as mature as a monkey could bring himself to ask:

Do you prefer to wear pants when sailing, or do you prefer shorts?
Or do you wear swimsuit?
Do you wear nothing at all?

Extra credit: Whats your style?

Do you dress in bright pastel colours, monogrammed sports shirts, ray bans with choker and look like something out of an ASA sailing sckool, or do you wear a beat up St Pauli Girl Beer T-shirt, and jeans with paint stains on them?

Please also give some reasons for your choices.

For example:

Pants - less sunburn; protection from dings and scratches, and bugs.
Shorts - cooler; less likely to get caught on something or drag me deep sixing.

Good luck

Re: Do you wear pants?

Depends on the time of year. Winter I dress warm, often wearing a survival suit. Spring and fall I begin the peel and summer it's shorts and a tee. I have a peaked cap with fabric down the neck that deals with sunburn (top of head and nose being my danger zones) and bugs aren't a problem on the waters around here but the water never gets really warm so it takes a good summer day to get down to shorts and tee.

Re: Do you wear pants?

Toy Story Base Ball Cap, RayBans on a chub

The rest depends on the day.

Leggings with jeans over on the bottom, Tshirt/turtleneck under polarfleece jersey and a parka on the top, so I can strip down or bundle up as needed. It would have to be REALLY REALLY warm to be down to a swimsuit on the San Francisco Bay. Especially in the summer.

Occasionally it might be warm enough to pare back to shorts in the fall. Onna really nice day.

Most of my clothes come from thrift stores so they are usually functional, but not prime examples of sartorial splendour...

Re: Do you wear pants?

In three days the most pressing question of my day will be ?am I going to wear pants today?
but for the most part, our cruising grounds will be shorts......too hot for pants.

Dickies shorts, which go past the knee and keep the sun from hitting any of the horizontal surfaces. They look good off the boat too.

My pair of Quicksilver stretchy board shorts if I'm planning on getting wet.

rebel heart - nice choice. I thought about these, but I feel rather strange wearing them at the store. Maybe a bit yougsta-rapp for my age.

Re: Do you wear pants?

I just about spit my coffee at my screen reading the headline.

Reason?

Must off had my head in the gutter, as I was sure it read, "Do you wear panties?"

Thought I was on the wrong forum for a second.

Here in Southern California everyone wears them, especially in the summer time. A lot of folks wear dickies pants on the waterfront doing their jobs so the shorts don't really seem to out of place.

Just make sure you don't tuck your shirt in and you'll look good.

As others have said ... it depends on the climate. If I wear pants there is nothing better than the original WeatherPants by Railriders.
