Cheap Fiberglass Polish and Wax

I there, I am new here, greetings to all!

I would like to ask if you could name me a good working and not to expensive fiberglass polish.
I know there are big brands, but I don't wanna pay there advertising effort and also it's just a motorhome I am getting over from. Japan.

I found k&h (Australian) on eBay. I guess we need liters of that stuff, what do you use against sun and salt?

The best "polish" is actually a wax - Carnauba wax which is available either as a paste wax or a liquid wax. You need to use a cleaner first before applying the wax.

Just don't confuse a polish from a wax. The first has a very mild abrasive which removes oxidation and grime. The other has a natural or synthetic coating that slows oxidation and creates a high shine.

There are also cleaner waxes which have both. These are a "only have to go over it once" compromise.

In today's simplicity world many "polishing" liquids contain both a "finishing compound" which has fine grit in it to remove oxidation and minor-scratches and also a "wax" to give it the shine.
- - From the dictionary: "Pol·ish [pol-ish]noun 5. a substance used to give smoothness or gloss: shoe polish."

- - So the "wax" is actually the "polish" but to get the best results it should be used after a "rubbing" or "finishing" compound to remove oxidation and micro-scratches.
- - The verb "polish" is a whole different subject.
- - However, in the real marine world of sea and lots of sunshine, after polishing a boat it looks great - for about a month or two. And then you are basically back to where you were before you started except that maybe some of the scratches and scars have been "rubbed" out.

I personaly love Nu-Finish liquid. It is a polish, not a wax. I did a side by side test on my run-about. 1/2 the topsides with Macguire's carnuba and the other half with Nu-Finish. The MacGuire's side definitly had a higher gloss. However, the MacGuire's stopped beading water after about a month, whereas the Nu-Finish still forced moderate beading after 9 months.

So now I use Nu-Finish on everything, once a year, and if I desire a higher gloss, I use a carnuba over it.

You can get Nu-finish at most auto part shops, and I think wal-mart too. Here is a link to it on Amazon for 8 bucks and some change.

If your camper is not a nice smooth finish (and most arent) it will have screw heads, rivets etc on the surface. Any wax left behind will turn white and look real bad. Not sure how you will keep from leaving deposits around all these fasteners, gooves etc. Is it oxidized? If so you need a polish to remove the oxidation. After that maybe just a "wash and wax" product will be the best solution...

I've done the wax job the hard way in the past with hard wax and buffer. To be honest I think from now on I'm just to go the liquid wash/wax route. It may not last as long, but can do it from the dinghy while in the water and it's easlier, which means I'm much more likely to do it.
