Re: Best Material for Salon Cushions

Ultrsuede seems to be the fabric of choice. Thanks for the input, there's nothing better than the voices of time tested experience. My last cushion re-cover was with Sunbrella and it hasn't held up real well. It's got some stains I can't get out.

Re: Best Material for Salon Cushions

Yes, same here: Ultrasuede (called Alcantara in the EU) is the best and probably the most expensive option.

ciao!
Nick.

Re: Best Material for Salon Cushions

If you are washing the covers, wash them in cold w/ a mild, brightener free detergent. Line dry...

After 30 years of use, you may find that evenwashing in gentle results in seams popping open. Just don't be surprised,

Re: Best Material for Salon Cushions

We have sunbrella covers, but I make up loose covers which fit over them out of local cotton fabric from where ever we happen to be. These give the cabin a fresh look every couple of years, are easy to wash and cheap to replace.

Re: Best Material for Salon Cushions

I cast another vote for Ultrasuede. Before we decided in it, I took a swatch and tested it with spots of suntan oil, ketchup, mustard, red wine, and mayonnaise. Every spot wiped right up with NO STAIN. Even the oils did not leave any discoloration. Amazing stuff.
