Welcome back Mark. Hope all was well.

Mark
When you're rested, would you mind doing maybe a paragraph on your "watch keeping" strategy single handed. It would seems things have improved a bit with AIS. Longest I have done single-handed is about 250 miles pre ais.

Looking at maybe doing some longer passages in the future

Cheers

We arrived in St. Martin late last night. We're anchored in Marigot.

There wasn't much out there.
VHF was quiet the whole time. Saw virtually no ships, a few on the Panama/English Channel track. None visible except on AIS.
Saw 2 sailing yachts at 25n 65w waypoint, again both only on AIS.

Crossing the Gulf Stream off Hatteras there were a few ships but right on the land side edge.

So it was 1 night, the Gulf Stream at 20 minute timed sleeps, sleeping on deck. Then 40 minutes for a night sleeping below, then 1 hour until that Panama track. While those ships were about it was 30 minutes. Then 1 hour again.
Saw absolutely nothing from the Panama track to the Caribbean.

Once you're in the deep ocean there's not much.

My AIS plots the ships tracks for 2 hours so if I do miss one I still see the track.
I don't think there was one less than 20nms.
